Leadership coaching and development
CLIENTS: VARIOUS NGO CEOS AND SENIOR EXECUTIVES
For several years WestWood Spice has convened several regular (bi-monthly) CEO forums and a Senior Executive Forum for NGO leaders. These are opportunities for community sector leaders to meet, learn and reflect together on meeting the challenges of their roles. WestWood Spice senior consultants offer insights and articles/readings while at the same time providing a safe, confidential environment in which participants can exchange ideas and learn from each other. Members invariably report great value from the sessions, particularly as trust, familiarity and confidence has built. Members collaborate and share ideas and resources. The result can only be a more cohesive and better-informed sector.

CLIENTS: VARIOUS NGO BOARD MEMBERS, CEOS AND SENIOR EXECUTIVES
WestWood Spice consultants provide regular and ad hoc coaching/mentoring for a growing number of NGO board members, chief and senior executives. (We see coaching as assisting executives to reach their own conclusions and insights through strategic questioning and encouragement. Mentoring supplements this with direct advice based on the mentor's own knowledge and experience. All WestWood Spice consultants are themselves experienced executives.) Coaching/mentoring of executives in the commercial and government sectors has been popular and successful for some time, but is only recently gaining acceptance in the NGO sector. There is an increasing body of evidence that such support produces significant results.
CLIENT: NATIONAL ABORIGINAL SPORTING CHANCE ACADEMY
WestWood Spice was engaged to assist with capacity building for this rapidly growing fledgling organisation for them to deliver in line with new expectations and requirements for reporting and accountability. The CEO and Board recognised that there was an urgent need to work with individual staff and teams to develop new skills, templates and systems to deliver the new programs and also to build cohesion across various team members. WestWood Spice:
- Mapped the key areas of need with the CEO and the Board.
- Held individual sessions over a number of months with members of the wider team.
- Adopted a strength-based approach to identify and build on team abilities.
- Tailored support and mentoring individually for each person.
- Analysed and reported systematic inefficiencies.
- Provided mentoring for the CEO to maximise leadership potency.
- Facilitated a whole day team workshop to celebrate successes and work on future planning.
